Beverly Clark Champagne Flutes
Where did The Toast come from?
Although today we drink the toast at weddings from individual glasses, originally the custom was to pass round a single "loving cup" from which all guests drank. The loving cup has its origins in the Church in mediaeval Britain where at Eucharist the wine was passed around with a piece of toast floating on top. Hence the term "toast" that we use today!
Champagne Flutes by Beverly Clark
One of the magical parts of the reception is when bride and groom toast each other for the first time as husband and wife! Traditionally an ornate toasting flute of silver or glass is used, often engraved with the couple's names and wedding date. Many of our flutes can be engraved (all personalizing is free) Click on the links below to begin browsing our selection of toasting flutes and champagne glasses... > Beverly Clark Toasting Flutes > Beverly Clark Flutes that can be Personalized > Server and Flute Sets > Toasting Flutes from the Hortense Hewitt line |
