It is especially useful in outdoor ceremonies where wind might blow out a candle flame.
The Colored Sand for the Unity Sand Ceremony Set comes in 8 different colors so you can order as much or as little as you need.

A unique alternative to the candle-lighting ceremony, our Unity Sand Ceremony Kit includes a central unity vase (9" tall, 3" diameter) with white linked-hearts imprint on it and three pouring vases (7 1/2" tall, 1 /3/4" diameter). This set makes a great keepsake and can be displayed as a beautiful centerpiece in your future home.

How to perform the Unity Sand Ceremony:
The Unity Sand Ceremony is such a wonderful way to symbolize the blending of two lives into one. The officiant begins by pouring in white sand at the bottom. This represents the foundation of spirit and community on which your marriage rests. Then the bride and groom each pours in a color representing their individual life.
Finally all three colors are poured in together symbolizing that, like the grains of sand, these two lives are now blended and can never be returned to their original form again. It is a very moving ceremony.
